Problem: DUCATI IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2012 848, STREETFIGHTER, HYPERMOTARD, MULTISTRADA, AND MONSTER MOTORCYCLES. THE FRICTION MATERIAL MAY DETACH FROM THE BACKING PLATE OF THE REAR BRAKE PADS.
Risk: IF THE FRICTION MATERIAL DETACHES, THERE WOULD BE A SUDDEN LOSS OF REAR BRAKE EFFICIENCY, INCREASING THE STOPPING DISTANCE AND INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Fix: DUCATI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE, AS NECESSARY, THE REAR BRAKE PADS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 21, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DUCATI AT 1-800-231-6696 OR GO TO THEIR WEBSITE AT WWW.DUCATI.COM.

Problem: DUCATI IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2012 MONSTER 1100 EVO MOTORCYCLES, MANUFACTURED FROM JANUARY 17, 2011, THROUGH JANUARY 24, 2012 AND EQUIPPED WITH REAR RIMS MARKED WITH CODE DU6-RR. OVER TIME, THE SPOKES ON THE REAR WHEEL RIM MAY DEVELOP CRACKS.
Risk: CRACKS MAY LEAD TO FAILURE OF THE REAR WHEEL RIM, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Problem: DUCATI IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2012 HYPERMOTARD AND MONSTER MOTORCYCLES MANUFACTURED FROM JUNE 25, 2011, THROUGH NOVEMBER 30, 2011. THE FUEL LINES CONTAIN MICRO-CRACKING DUE TO INSUFFICIENT DRYING OF RAW MATERIALS PRIOR TO EXTRUSION.
Risk: THIS COULD CAUSE A FUEL LEAK, WHICH IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, MAY LEAD TO A FIRE AND INCREASED RISK OF PROPERTY DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY.

Rear brake pedal unexpectedly soft. Brakes bled in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and fluid use (DOT5.1). Brake regains firmness, but quickly looses effectiveness and becomes soft, limiting braking capability. Alternate bleeding method also attempted with similar results. Brake pedal will remain firm for some time, but then returns to soft feel, creating unexpected braking performance.

THE REAR BRAKE WENT OUT TWICE. I HAD IT FIXED UNDER WARRANTY IN SEPTEMBER OF 2013. NOW IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE REAR BRAKE IS OUT AGAIN. THE COMPANY REFUSES TO FIX THE ISSUE TILL I PAY OUT OF POCKET FIRST. THE REAR BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS TO THE FLOOR WITH NO BITE AT ALL. I'VE READ ON FORUMS THAT I AM NOT THE FIRST TO HAVE THIS ISSUE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DUCATI MONSTER 1100 EVO 1100. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE REAR WHEEL SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR BRAKES FAILED. AS A RESULT, THE REAR MASTER CYLINDER, THE BRAKE PADS AND THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, THE DEALER NOTIFIED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V188000 ( SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. RIDING ON LEVEL ROAD, CRUISING ABOUT 40 MPH. FRONT BRAKES LOCK AND WOULD NOT RELEASE. THIS PITCHED ME OVER THE HANDLE BARS, I.E. STOPPIE. THE PROBLEM WAS THE REAR BRAKE PADS "DISAPPEARED" AND THE REMAINING REAR PAD BACKING PLATE CAUSED OVER HEATING OF REAR ROTOR AND REAR MASTER CYLINDER. RED HOT. BOILED FLUID. UPON COOL DOWN, (ME AND THE DUCATI) FRONT BRAKES RELEASED AND BIKE WAS ABLE TO MOVE BUT WITHOUT REAR BRAKES. MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH ABS OR TRACTION CONTROL. MY SON WAS KILLED IN A CRASH ON I-270 IN COLUMBUS OHIO AT THE SR 315 INTERCHANGE. ACCORDING TO AN EYEWITNESS HE HAD JUST PASSED HER ABOUT 70-75 MPH, IN THE THIRD LANE FROM THE BIRM OUT OF 5. BEGAN STRUGGLING WITH CONTROL, SHE SAID THE REAR OF THE BIKE WAS SHIMMYING. THE LOSS OF CONTROL GOT PROGESSIVELY WORSE, HE CROSSED THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC AND CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL REAR END FIRST. The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) based on twenty-two (22) Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) for soft rear brakes caused by air seeping into the rear brake lines of model year (MY) 2012-2020 Ducati Monster, Multistrada, SuperSport, Panigale, Scrambler and Diavel motorcycles.The consumers were alleging that the rear brakes would not properly function unless the rear brake pedal was applied several times or that there was a total loss of rear braking during normal applications, increasing the risk of a crash. In a March 2020 meeting, Ducati indicated that they were aware of certain models in which air may enter the motorcycles' rear braking system through the brake lines, due to exposure to heat from the exhaust system.
