The 2005 Ducati Monster 620 has 2 safety recalls and 1 owner complaint on file with NHTSA. The most-reported problem area is fuel system, gasoline (1 complaint).
Problem: ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE FUEL PUMP AND IGNITION RELAYS INSTALLED DURING PRODUCTION COULD BE DEFECTIVE. THIS CAN CAUSE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO STOP FUNCTIONING AND THE ENGINE TO STOP.
Risk: IF THE ENGINE STOPPED WHILE THE MOTORCYCLE WAS BEING DRIVEN, IT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Fix: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP AND IGNTION RELAYS. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING OCTOBER 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DUCATI AT 1-408-253-0499.

Dec 4, 2009 · 22,000 milesFuel system, gasoline MY MOTORCYCLE HAS A PLASTIC GAS TANK WHICH HAS BEGUN TO EXPAND. THE OUTSIDE DIMENSIONS OF THE TANK HAVE INCREASED AND IT NOW DOES NOT SIT CORRECTLY IN THE FRAME, THE HANDLEBARS HIT IT ON TURNING, AND IT PRESSES AGAINST THE IGNITION SWITCH. PREVIOUSLY IT OPENED AND CLOSED WITHOUT PROBLEMS, NOW I HAVE TO WEDGE IT AGAINST THE IGNITION SWITCH TO CLOSE IT. THE RUBBER MOUNTS NO LONGER SIT ON THE FRAME. PE10045 · opened Nov 4, 2010 · closed Feb 28, 2011 · led to recall 11V020000Fuel leak at pump/tank interface After opening this PE, we met with subject owners, dealers, and Ducati North America personnel. We learned that the subject leakage is limited to the Multistrada line alone and is unrelated to composite fuel tank deformation.Rather it stems from the inability of the original sealing O-ring to conform to the tank's relatively rough sealing surface.Recall 11V-020 provides a new X section O-ring to address the Multistrada issue and with that recall, this PE is closed for the Multistrada.Meanwhile, unlike the Multistrada, the Monster line fails to exhibit a current safety defect trend and, on that basis, this PE is closed for those models as well.
