Recent owner complaints
- Engine
The contact owns a 2017 Lexus GX. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the center console repeatedly restarted and displayed a blank screen. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed, but no failure was found. Additionally, while driving at 10 MPH, the vehicle experienced a total loss of motive power. No warning lights illuminated. After multiple attempts, the vehicle was restarted and driven normally. The dealer was not notified of the power loss failure, and the vehicle was not further diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 92,000.
- Fuel/propulsion system
The issue started with the engine stalling while Iâm driving, and one day the car failed to start. I towed it to the dealership who said there is nothing wrong with the fuel pump and advised me to replace the battery. I replaced the battery and drove it for a couple more months, while the engine continued to stall from time to time and eventually failed to start again yesterday. Itâs very apparent that the issue is with the fuel pump, and there is a recall for the fuel pump for the 2015, 2016, 2019, and 2020 models of the Lexus GX460, and my car is the 2017 model. I believe the recall should have been issued for all the models from 2015 to 2020.
- Electrical system
Navigation/Screen is black, canât control heat/AC/defrost or see audio/nav, any safety concerns (fogging, distractions, etc.). Tire sensor on, due to sensor failure. Caused me to pull off the road. No way of actually being notified of a tire pressure safety issue.
- Structure › Body
The paint on the roof of this white Lexus is peeling and cracking. I took it to Lexus and they said since it was 5K miles out of warranty, they would not repair this manufacturers defect
- Forward collision avoidance
The contact owns a 2017 Lexus GX460. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the braking system erroneously activated causing the vehicle to abruptly stop in the middle of the roadway. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on many occasions, but only occurred at the same location each time at on BWI Parkway, Rt. 195, ext. 22, located in Baltimore, MD. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 50,000.

- Desiccated Air Bag Inflator RuptureOpen
From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 Blomquist Report at www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in US vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced. In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled…
