Recent owner complaints
- Fuel system, gasoline
The contact owns a 2026 Mazda CX-90. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was a strong gasoline odor inside and outside the vehicle. The odor was strong enough that the contact and other passengers were often nauseated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the failure was confirmed and associated with the EVAP system. The contact was informed that a service case needed to be opened, and the contact was referred to the dealer for additional assistance. The part was scheduled to be ordered but was on backorder. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure by email, and a case was opened.
- Electrical system
The contact owns a 2026 Mazda CX-90. The contact stated that while driving, the instrument cluster rebooted, causing warning lights and messages were displayed and then immediately went to a blank screen and was reset to zero before self-correcting. The contacted stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 300.
- Steering
Incident #1 Upon startup vehicle did not have power steering. Power steering light was on gauge cluster, ready light was flashing on the dash, could not shift from park (have video of failure). Ongoing Incident: Incident has been ongoing since 300 miles- while driving all lights come on the dash and the gauge cluster shuts down, windshield wipers come on and then gauge cluster starts back up, all while going about 45mph. has occurred 4+ times. Vehicle has been in and out of service - total 26 days in service and is where it presently sits.
- Vehicle speed control
While traveling approximately 70â80 mph on a heavily traveled interstate with significant commercial truck traffic, the vehicle suddenly stopped responding normally to accelerator input. I pressed the accelerator pedal fully multiple times, but the vehicle would not accelerate. I was traveling with my mother and young child and was able to safely move the vehicle to the shoulder. After shutting the vehicle off and restarting it, a high-voltage battery temperature warning briefly appeared on the instrument display for several seconds and then disappeared. The vehicle was subsequently taken to an authorized Mazda dealer for inspection. Mazda and the dealer performed diagnostic testing,…
- Electrical system
Component: Instrument cluster/dash electrical system, with linked wiper activation. 2026 Mazda CX-90, VIN [XXX]. Vehicle available for inspection. Safety risk: While driving, warning icons flood on (amber, sometimes a large red brake/emergency-stop icon) for 2-5 seconds, with an unrequested single wiper pass. Speedometer, gear indicator, and MPG stay active. On this occurrence, the malfunction happened twice in immediate succession â as soon as the reset resolved, it recurred within about one second, which has not happened before. This occurred with 3 passengers in the vehicle during a road trip. The icon flood obscures whether a real emergency warning is present, at speeds ~45 mph. Also…
- Engine
My boyfriend and I rented the car from Hertz Car Rental in [XXX] on Labor Day weekend. Within moments of driving the car off the lot, the safety camera system stopped working and the lights came on saying they werenât working. The touch screen also started glitching and intermittently working but we didnât think too much about it. We started driving across the state to [XXX] and made it about 4 hours away from [XXX] when the car started making a noise like a marble in a tin can, lost power, started shaking, and could not make it up hills at a safe speed. The check engine light came on. We pulled over and popped the hood to find a lot of rat feces scattered all over the engine bay, some…
- Fuel/propulsion system
I am reporting a fuel odor concern with my Mazda CX-90. After driving the vehicle and pulling it into my attached garage, I noticed a strong gasoline/fuel smell coming from the vehicle. I reported this to the Mazda dealership's service department. They told me Mazda is aware of the fuel smell for several years now and that it is coming from the EVAP system/canister. They explained that the EVAP system has openings that allow it to vent and that this venting is causing the fuel smell. The service department told me they have contacted Mazda corporate about this issue in the past. According to them, Mazda's response is that [XXX] and [XXX] are considered "extreme climates" due to the heat,…
- Steering
On multiple occasions, the steering wheel became stiff or locked while driving or during start-up, multiple dashboard warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle could not be shifted from Park to Drive. This occurred repeatedly since the vehicle was purchased. The dealer inspected the vehicle multiple times; on the first attempts they could not duplicate the issue. On a later visit, the vehicle displayed a lost communication fault with the electric power steering (EPS) system, and the dealer replaced the steering gear/rack assembly and EPS motor per the manufacturerâs technical hotline instructions. Despite this part replacement, the same steering/warning light condition recurred weeks…
