NHTSA recall 92V134000 · Sep 20, 1992 · 7,526 vehicles

Problem: A NUT WHICH JOINS THE WHEEL SPINDLE AND A BALL JOINT IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION WAS NOT PROPERLY TORQUED.

Risk: THE BALL JOINT AND THE SUSPENSION STRUT CAN ULTIMATELYSEPARATE FROM EACH OTHER. THE WHEEL WILL REMAIN ATTACHED TO THE CAR, BUT LOSS OFSTEERING CONTROL WILL RESULT.

Fix: INSPECT THE FRONT SUSPENSION FOR PROPER BALL JOINT ATTACHMENT AND REPLACE THE BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY IF IT DOES NOT MEET SPECIFICATIONS.

Recall repairs are free at any authorised dealer. A recall listed here may already have been fixed on a particular car: enter its 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see open recalls.
