Oct 20, 2026Engine Dealer, upon inspections, found that the cam carrier is starting to leak. Approximately a $3,000 repair. Per the internet, is sounds like this is a known GM issue with this model.
Sep 23, 2026Electrical system Rodents chewed wiring because it is soy based. I'm lucky because my car was not disabled while driving etc because the EVAP system was affected . This could have been much worse and could have caused death etc if it happened to another system of the car. ie: brakes, propulsion, headlights, air bags, etc etc etc...Cadillac dealer who fixed the issue said that it is a common problem and not warranted and my car has no warranty anyway.
May 1, 2026Power train I took my suv in for diagnostics to a certified GM dealership at least twice while still under warranty. The check engine light was on, the car was behaving abnormally as well as making unusual concerning noises. The dealership sent me away saying no codes showed up and they couldnât find a problem. The light would come on and off sporadically. I took screen shots of my dashboard every time the light came on. Within months of my warranty expiring xI was traveling to IL 1.5 hours from home on I-90 during heavy traffic. Suddenly the dashboard provided extensive messages ex: engine overheating, idle engine, etc and I could not get the rpmâs over 68, then 65; then 60; then 58 etc. I pulled…
May 15, 2026Engine Recently went to my local Sewell dealership for my routine oil change. With an oil change they do a complimentary multipoint inspection. During the inspection they noticed that my camshaft carrier was leaking and needed to be resealed. The resealing of the camshaft carrier would be around $4,000. I donât have that kind of money laying around especially in this economy. I just got a new place and I canât Afford to spend $4,0000 right now. I did some research online and apparently this is a common issue with Cadillac cars. I reached out to other Cadillac owners and they advised me to submit a complaint with the NTHSA due to the frequency of this issue across Cadillac cars. Will there be…
Jan 22, 2026Engine I took my car is for service at the Cadillac dealership and they stated there was an oil leak from the camshaft carrier. When I asked more questions they stated it was a fairly common problem with the XT4 and a few other models where there was a faulty seal at the "T-joint" (cam carrier T-joint). My car is no longer under warranty, but had under 26000 miles at the time. There were no warnings or symptoms. I would not have not if the dealer had not told me. The cost was estimated at $3254.45. If this is a common problem, why isn't there a recall?
Jan 7, 2026Engine During oil change Cadillac mechanic noted camshaft oil seal leak. Video was provided. Mileage on car is 51,534 at that time. I feel that this is too premature and repair requires pulling the engine. Very expensive. Quote was $4,597
Sep 1, 2025Engine At around 17,000 miles the timing chain tensioner went bad. At cold start up you could hear the timing chain hitting the 'guide' until the oil pressure built up and provided enough tension. I was covered by an aftermarket warranty - which paid all the labor ($1700). I had to pay a $100 deductible -along for the parts ($300). I feel that this should be looked into and Cadillac should replace any tensioner that might be defective- since this could cause catastrophic engine failure. If you check - it does appear the 'new tensioner' part number is a revision- indicating Cadillac probably knows the old part number was defective!
Oct 1, 2024Exterior lighting The passenger side DRL/turn signal is dim causing the vehicle visability to be reduced and other drivers unable to see turn indications, increasing the risk of crash. The design of the unit places undue heat near the circuit board causing the unit to fail. The driver's side does not have this issue. This is a known issue with many post on forums on it.
