Problem: Ducati is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Diavel motorcycles manufactured from May 25, 2012, through June 28, 2012. The side stand may bend or break.
Risk: The side stand could bend or break in the pivot area, allowing the motorcycle to fall over, increasing the risk of personal injury to the operator or others near the motorcycle. Even without falling over, a bent sidestand may interfere with the proper operation of the sidestand safety switch, preventing the bike from starting or causing the bike to stall without warning.
Fix: Ducati will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the side stand, free of charge. The safety recall began on August 13, 2012. Owners may contact Ducati at 1-800-231-6696 or through their website at www.ducati.com.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DUCATI DIAVEL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE PRESSURE SENSOR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AS THE MOTORCYCLE DECELERATED AND LOST POWER. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS TAKEN TO GARCIA MOTO BMW INDIAN DUCATI MOTUS KTM (8821 WADFORD DR., RALEIGH, NC 27616, 919-834-5111) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE MAP SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE…

THE BIKE ONLY HAS 2300 MILES, HAS NEVER BEEN IN ACCIDENT OR DAMAGE IN ANYWAY. HOWEVER THE FRONT BRAKES LINES SOMEHOW BECOME PINCHED RESULTING IN COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE WHENEVER YOU TURN THE HANDLE BARS TO THE RIGHT.

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) based on twenty-two (22) Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) for soft rear brakes caused by air seeping into the rear brake lines of model year (MY) 2012-2020 Ducati Monster, Multistrada, SuperSport, Panigale, Scrambler and Diavel motorcycles.The consumers were alleging that the rear brakes would not properly function unless the rear brake pedal was applied several times or that there was a total loss of rear braking during normal applications, increasing the risk of a crash. In a March 2020 meeting, Ducati indicated that they were aware of certain models in which air may enter the motorcycles' rear braking system through the brake lines, due to exposure to heat from the exhaust system.
