On XXX at approximately 17,900 miles, a tire on my 2020 Range Rover Velar exploded suddenly while my wife was driving on the highway at approximately 50 mph. The blowout displaced the axle. The vehicle was brought to a stop without a collision, and no injuries occurred. The vehicle was towed to Galpin Jaguar Land Rover in [XXX], where the tire was replaced and the axle and wheels were realigned. The vehicle was purchased as a Land Rover Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicle in April 2024. A separate complaint (XXX) was filed for a Telematics Control Unit failure on this vehicle in August 2026. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The Telematics Control Unit (TCU) short-circuited internally while the vehicle was parked, draining the battery and leaving the vehicle completely immobilized. It would not start and had to be towed to an authorized Land Rover dealer. The dealer's diagnosis (RO 645537, JLR Technical Assistance case TA 4202195) found the TCU offline, the main battery tested good, and fuse RF20 blown. The replacement fuse also blew. Power and ground checks confirmed the TCU was internally shorted. The TCU (part LR091250) was replaced at a cost of $3,041.24. Before the failure, the infotainment system had persistent navigation and Bluetooth faults. Land Rover issued a software over-the-air update for the…

"My 2020 Range Rover Velar (VIN: [XXX], 68,424 miles) has an electronic rotary gear selector showing signs of failure consistent with a widely reported defect in this vehicle line. The shift-by-wire module uses an internal circuit board known for weak solder joints, causing the dial to become stuck and unable to select or exit a gear (fault code P176C-11 in some cases). This is documented across multiple Land Rover/Range Rover models (2013â2023 Range Rover, 2018â2023 Velar, 2017â2023 Discovery). If a vehicle becomes stuck in Drive or Park unexpectedly, it poses a real safety risk, especially since this is a shift-by-wire system with no mechanical backup linkage. No recall currently…

I'm writing to report a serious safety issue with my 2020 Range Rover Velar's power tailgate. While I was inside the cargo area, the tailgate began closing on its own/unexpectedly. On a separate occasion, it closed on my [XXX] son while he was in the cargo area-I had to push him out of the way to prevent him from being crushed. Shortly after these incidents, the tailgate/latch actuator stopped functioning entirely. I took the vehicle to the dealer who quoted approximately $1300 to replace the latch assembly. Given that this malfunction has put my child at risk of serious injury, I'd like to ask: 1. Is there an open Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for tailgate latch/actuator issues on the…

Summary: Remote start causes repeated, predictable failure of critical safety systems including traction control, hill descent control, and automatic emergency braking. Description of Problem: When the vehicle is started using the factory app for phones, the lower infotainment screen (the climate/drive assist panel) frequently fails to initialize properly. As a result, the icons and functions for Traction Control, Hill Descent Control do not illuminate or activate. The vehicle then displays warnings such as âHill Descent Control Not Availableâ and âAutomatic Braking Not Available.â This failure occurs approximately 99% of the time when using remote start. If I begin driving with the…

At approximately 39,000 miles, my 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar developed a coolant leak from the front lower crossover in the engine valley. A repair facility confirmed the issue and recommended replacement of the front upper and lower crossovers, water pump, and hoses. The repair estimate is $2,727. This problem is a known defect in other Jaguar Land Rover vehicles (crossover/elbow coolant leaks) that were subject to recalls and lawsuits, but my VIN is not currently included. The defect creates a serious safety risk: coolant leaks can cause sudden engine overheating, loss of power, or engine failure while driving, putting occupants and other drivers at risk. The issue has been…
