Problem: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2016-2017 G550 4Matic, G63 AMG, and G65 AMG vehicles. A malfunction of the Electronic Stability Program (ESP), while Distronic Plus is engaged, may cause the engine to not reduce power, regardless of the vehicle's speed, driving situation or brake application.
Risk: Increased braking effort and/or shifting to neutral would be needed to stop the vehicle, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the ESP control unit software, free of charge. The recall began on December 6, 2017. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2017110012.

Dear NHTSA Please consider this a formal complaint against Mercedes-Benz for completely defective ABS and EPS systems which control handling, dynamic stability, and anti-lock braking. The âDefectiveâ designation is theirs, rather than a notice to service or that the systems were merely off-line or required repair. The failure notice was issued by the car itself. These critical system failures were only one of many Distonic (radar, cruise control, vehicle spacing, automatic braking), front and rear sensors, rear camera, and navigation failures. DUE TO A TRACTION CONTROL SOFTWARE ERROR IN MANUFACTURING, AND PERHAPS OTHER ERRORS THAT TRIGGER ERROR CODES, MY CAR WITH ONLY 650 MILES IS UNDRIVEABLE AND UNSAFE. A REPLACEMENT MODULE MUST BE BUILT IN GERMANY WHICH WILL TAKE OVER ONE MONTH TO BE SENT TO THE U.S. DEALERSHIP,AS WELL AS OTHER POSSIBLE FIXES MAY HAVE TO BE MADE,.
