2024 GMC Yukon XL Denali with approximately 30,000 miles. The vehicle previously completed the L87 recall remedy (NHTSA 25V274000). The dealer inspected the engine, it passed, and the higher-viscosity oil change, filter, oil-fill cap, and ownerâs manual insert were performed. Despite that remedy, the vehicle later experienced a sudden loss of propulsion on the highway while traveling with family. The vehicle began shaking and the engine shut down. There were no check-engine lights, warning messages, or other notifications prior to or during the failure. The vehicle was towed to a GM dealer. Diagnostic testing at the dealer confirmed that the engine requires replacement under Special…

My 2024 GMC Yukon XL Denali Ultimate (VIN 1GKS2KKLXRR331476, 6.2L L87) has been consuming engine oil excessively since early ownership. At the 20,219-mile oil change it was already a quart low, and it has needed repeated oil additions between changes since then. The vehicle is now at about 32,400 miles. I reported the problem in writing to the selling dealer on April 30, 2026, and again on October 9, 2026. GM opened case 115829578, but no oil consumption test or repair has been done. Low oil in this engine risks bearing damage and sudden engine failure while driving, the failure mode NHTSA is investigating under EA26005 for L87 engines built after Recall 25V-274's production window, which…

On September 17, 2026, at approximately 22,861 miles, the 6.2L L87 V8 engine in my 2024 GMC Yukon XL suffered a sudden loss of propulsion and was subsequently confirmed by an authorized GMC dealer to be seized and require complete replacement. I was entering northbound I-75 from the Mt. Paran Road entrance in Atlanta, GA with two of my children in the vehicle. This entrance has an extended acceleration ramp where vehicles accelerate to interstate merging speed. While accelerating, the engine briefly stuttered and then the vehicle stopped producing power when I pressed the accelerator. I was unable to continue accelerating and moved onto the limited shoulder. Other vehicles continued…

Update to original claim filed 11760897. Dealership inspected on 9/9/2026 and found engine damage severe enough to warrant a complete replacement. Catastrophic damage. Unspecified what caused the damage, but service advisor made me aware of a deep gash along the cylinder wall after removing the cylinder heads, unspecified cylinder. Likely from cylinder 3 where the code was being displayed- P0303. Vehicle was in the beginning stages of an oil consumption test and had a history of oil loss without any visible leaks. Add oil light came on 650 miles after oil change. Oil was likely being burnt up through combustion due to damaged cylinder wall. Unknown time for new engine to be installed.…

2024 Yukon XL 6.2L V8 following a complete engine failure at 37,446 miles and the significant safety incident that resulted. On XXX, while traveling from [XXX] to [XXX] on [XXX], the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration while traveling at 65mph on a 2 lane HWY, displayed a Low Oil Pressure warning, developed loud knocking and ticking noises, and became inoperable. We were forced to drift to a stop in an isolated desert location after passing a highway sign stating âNext Gas Station 94 Miles.â Our family of four remained stranded for approximately 5½ hours in temperatures exceeding 100°F. During that time, we spent more than three hours working with OnStar, but no workable transportation…
