My 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara has experienced a recurring steering-wobble condition when traveling at highway speeds and hitting bumps or irregularities in the road. The steering wheel and vehicle shake violently, creating a safety concern because it can be difficult to maintain control of the vehicle during the event. In December 2023, an authorized Jeep dealership documented highway-speed shaking after hitting bumps, verified the concern, found the steering damper weak, and replaced it. In December 2024, the same dealership again verified highway-speed shaking over bumps and replaced the steering damper a second time. In August 2026, the problem returned, with approximately three…

My Jeep Wrangler recently developed a noticeable steering shimmy/shaking at highway speeds. I hit a bump in the road and almost caused a loss of control. Three Rivers Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (Pittsburgh, PA) documented the concern as âsteering shimmy highway speedsâ and diagnosed the steering damper as the problem and repaired the problem.

Today is 10/19/2026. I have a 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4Xe Rubicon that has completed all of its safety recalls and recall notices. Each recall notice has been completed and each was marked as having no issues found. After completion of recall notice 68C (NHTSA 25V-741), we began to experience a complete change in how the car operates based on the vehicle mode selected on the 3 button panel (Hybrid, Electric, E-Save). We are now experiencing a consistent inappropriate kicking in of the gasoline engine when selecting and driving in the "Electric" only mode. Our normal driving of this car has occurred on the same roadways since we purchased the car from dealer stock. Prior to the Safety recall…

i PURCHASED MY 2022 JEEP RUBICON 4XE USED ON MARCH 31, 2026. IN APRIL, I HAD A RECALL NOTICE FOR RECALL 68C. I TOOK IT TO MY JEEP DEALER AND HAD THE RECALL DONE. IMMEDATELY, I NOTICED THAT MY ACCELERATION IN ELECTRIC MODE & HYBRID MODE IS DRASTICALLY REDUCED TO THE POINT OF BEING UNSAFE. ATTEMPTING TO MERGE OR PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE NO LONGER ACCELERATES LIKE IT DID BEFORE THE RECALL 68C WAS DONE. IT FELLS LIKE I AM DRIVING WIHT MY EMERGENCY BREAK ENGAGED, AS THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE NORMALLY. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT EVERYTHING IS NORMAL, HOWEVER IT IS VERY DIFFERENT. I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IF IT HAD A HESITATION WHEN ACCELARATING. LOOKING ONLINE FOR…

Underhood firesClosedLed to recall 26V363
On September 6, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation PE24024 to investigate allegations of engine compartment fires in model year 2021-2023 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles. Most reports described fires starting on the front passenger side of the engine compartment while the vehicle was turned off, with several originating specifically at the electrohydraulic power steering pump's electrical connector. Following the opening of the investigation, ODI sent an information request letter to the vehicle manufacturer to assess the cause, scope, and frequency of the alleged defect. Additionally, ODI continued to receive reports of vehicle fires with a likely origin at or near the power steering pump. Throughout this investigation, ODI continued to discuss these new reports and the information request letter response with the manufacturer. On June 4,…
The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has identified 68 Vehicle Owner Questionnaire (VOQ) reports for model years (MY) 2021 through 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe vehicles alleging a loss of motive power. Recall 22V-865 was issued by the manufacturer to address an engine shutdown condition in certain MY 2021-2023 Wrangler 4xe vehicles. The complaints noted here contain both post recall remedy failures and failures in vehicles not included within the scope of 22V-865. An analysis comparing complaints received before the issuance of recall 22V-865 and complaints outside the scope of the recall has been conducted. The results show the current complaint rate is higher in the out of scope vehicles than it was for vehicles that were later covered by the recall. ODI is opening this Recall Query (RQ) to assess the severity of the alleged defect in vehicles not included in recall 22V-865.ODI will…

During the investigation, ODI sought to determine if the related defect allegation was limited in scope to the recalled population. After review of information request response materials from both FCA and BMW, NHTSA determined that sufficient information to identify a comprehensive recall population could not be produced by FCA and BMW.During the investigation FCA filed recalls 22V406, 22E048, 22V767, and 22E087 which include vehicles not identified in the initial subject population by ODI.
