  Twice my 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid lost power above 85 mph with a flashing check engine light: Restart recovery: Restarting restored normal operation. Check engine light: Flashed then went off after restart. Mileage: Over 100,000 miles.

• Fuel/propulsion system

  In February, 2026, while driving the car after cold start within 1 mile of house, engine light started flashing, car was misfiring and was losing power. I had to pull over, turn the engine off, restart it and continue without incident. Car taken to Honda service department; no codes found; problem could not be duplicated; and unable to diagnose issue. Problem continued intermittently and became more frequent until 5/21/26. Honda service duplicated issue and diagnosed problem as leaking fuel injectors. On 5/22/26 car was repaired with 4 new fuel injectors and 4 new spark plugs. Repair cost was $3,549.01. Mileage was 60,775. Safety issue was loss of power on the road.

  On October 19th at 4pm, driving at 72 miles per hour the engine lost power and the engine light flashed. As this was during heavy rush hour traffic, it was a big risk trying to get to the side of the road, get off the highway and travel at very slow speed (20-25 mph) until I could get home. After the engine was shut off and the restarted after 20 minutes, the engine light was off and it seemed to run normally. The car was taken to the dealership where it was purchased several days later and no fault code could be found to identify the problem.

• Service brakes

  2022 Honda crv. The battery was old and had low voltage. There were no warnings of this and no issues starting car. While idling at light at intersection the entire car just died. It was on and there was power to it, but everything broke and it appeared like there was some kind of major electrical disfunction. No steering no brakes could not shift could not turn car on or off. Towed to Honda dealer. They replaced battery and confirmed this can happen on the road while idling if battery is getting old. Very dangerous

  The steering is sticky. It feels stuck when going around curves. This creates a jerky driving experience and I'm worried it could cause an accident on wet or icy roads.

  Sticky steering wheel gears and creaky sounds when turning. Confirmed at dealership during inspection. Current recalls for this part include the 2023-2025 crv so they will not fix it for me even though they confirmed it’s the same problem the recalled cars have

  Front passenger seatbelt will sometimes not unlock, requiring passenger to maneuver out of the seatbelt and then not use it.

NHTSA defect investigations

• Inadvertent Automatic Emergency BrakingOpen

  On February 21, 2022, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened Preliminary Evaluation (PE22003) to assess reports of inadvertent activation of the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), an automatic emergency braking (AEB) system, in model year 2017-2019 Honda CR-V and 2018-2019 Honda Accord vehicles. The reports allege that activation of the AEB system occurs while driving with no apparent obstruction in the vehicle's forward path, resulting in sudden vehicle deceleration. Honda indicated that they were aware of a total of X,XXX reports that may relate to the alleged defect. • Rear Differential SeizureClosed

  On November 29, 2022, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened PE 22-011 after reviewing field reports alleging rear differential seizure in 2018-2022MY Honda CR-V and HR-V vehicles equipped with all wheel drive. To date, ODI has not received any consumer complaints. Some of the field reports received alleged the vehicle’s wheels locked up with no warning while the vehicle was in motion. These vehicles were towed to a dealership. Examination of these vehicles showed the driveshaft had broken and the differential unit was completely damaged. The field reports cited a lack of oil due to damaged oil seals as the cause. Honda provided data including consumer complaints, field reports, and warranty claims they received relating to the loss of oil retention and resulting differential damage.
